I wanted to start this blog so that I could keep people updated about my life. In the past few years it seems that I have spent more time living in other countries than in my own.
I arrived in Santiago two days ago for the second time in my life to spend the summer here with my Chilean boyfriend (read: Rodolfo) and his family and to conduct an independant study on Mapuche land rights for my Masters program in Social Work at Washington University.
After two and a half years in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica, five months in the Dominican Republic leading a medical mission team through Creighton University and ILAC and one year of bilingual teaching in the Chicago burbs, I was off again last summer to Peru and Chile. I spent a month in Lima, Peru with my two wonderful sisters working and getting to know the Christian Life Movement. Later, I flew to Bogota, Colombia to visit an old Peace Corps friend for two weeks and then off to Santiago, Chile. Although I planned to be in Santiago for a month, I chose to stay six more months, work at Santiago College and defer grad school. And yes, here I am again, four months later…on my summer vacation, enduring Chilean winter. Oh, el amor (sigh). The things we do for love.
I will periodically be posting pictures and writing to continue to keep loved ones informed about Chile and life. Feel free to post comments and ideas. Thanks for being respectful.
Cheers,
Lucie

Lucie!!! So cool to read your blog and see what you’ve been up to. Sounds like a very rewarding (and educational!) experience, and I’m sure you don’t miss the cold snow. Also, you get to “jugar al futbol” whenever you want I bet! Best wishes, good luck with finishing your Master’s, nothing wrong with deferring for a bit! Keep in touch, or at least keep the blog alive.
